Quick answer
[Official] Big Walk does not have online matchmaking. The game is designed for the same group to continue a long-form cooperative journey over multiple sessions, so players need to organize their own group and join a host through a friend-games list or Join Code.
Set up a group without matchmaking
- Choose a host who can return for later sessions, because the host keeps the save and progress.
- Agree on a group size from 2 to 12 players.
- Have the host start the session and load into the world.
- Use the platform friend-games list when available, or share the current session's Join Code.
- For a returning group, have the original host start the saved journey again.
What the community is doing
[Community-reported] During the research pass, the first page of Steam discussions contained multiple English LFG and open Join Code posts. That shows players are using community spaces to assemble groups, but those posts are temporary, are not official matchmaking, and do not imply that House House moderates each group.
Protect a hosted session
[Official] The host can open the in-game menu, choose Session Details, and change the session password while the game is running. Use a fresh code and password if an unintended player joins or a public code has spread beyond the intended group.
